READING ROOM & RESOURCE LIBRARY
Resource Research Library
Our Reading Room contains many books on ornithology, botany, geology, marine life, mammals, nautical navigation, Maritime history, Grand Manan, the fisheries of Atlantic Canada, and more. There is also a collection of books written by islanders, visitors to the island, and summer residents. Special collections include the four binders of the Elmer Wilcox Memorial Wildflowers of Grand Manan, two binders on the Life of Fisherman Gleason Green, the Sands of Time publications of the Grand Manan Genealogical Society, binders with issues of The Island Times. Books cannot be signed out, but must be read on the premises.
There is a large oak table in the centre of the room where board meetings are held and where research can be conducted. There are two comfortable chairs in front of a large picture window for leisure reading and a spectacular view of the meadow, outdoor exhibits, and the harbour.
A service window and counter accesses the Archives Office, allowing the transfer of materials from the Archives to researchers using the room.
